Onestream is among several emerging broadband providers aiming to shake up the home broadband market with its affordable options.

Onestream's broadband suits those seeking simplicity, yet it does come with notable drawbacks. A summary of the pros and cons are:

Onestream's basic broadband service offers decent fibre speeds, averaging around 45Mbps and 67Mbps. That's on par with what you'd get with BT's Fibre 1 and Fibre 2 packages, or Sky's Superfast deals. They've also got some faster fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) plans, ranging from 100Mbps to a blazing 900Mbps. Given that the fttp service is somewhat limited across the UK currently though, you're more likely to have access to the 45Mbps or 67Mbps services.

Prices are pretty competitive, often cheaper than big names like BT and TalkTalk. But watch out for possible price hikes during your contract. Finally, there is no tv offering to the service so if it's a broadband and tv package you need then you'll have to look elsewhere.

Onestream provides a 'Superstream Router' as part of its packages, but it's essentially a basic single-band Technicolor TG588v2 model. It does come with four Ethernet ports for wired connections, but it's missing advanced features like smart channel selection or Intelligent Wi-Fi services. While it gets the job done, it's not as impressive as the higher-spec routers offered by th likes of BT, Sky, and Virgin Media.
